This Christmas, Varun Dhawan treated fans with his much-anticipated film Baby John. The film opened to modest numbers with an estimated Rs 12.5 crore in India on its first day, as per Sacnilk.
Baby John struggles at Box Office; falls behind Mufasa and Pushpa 2
Despite the holiday boost, Baby John struggled to outshine Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, which brought in Rs 19.75 crore on its 21st day in theatres. Also, Shah Rukh Khan and AbRam Khan voiced the film Mufasa: The Lion King, which has grossed around Rs 64 crore so far and is soon going to enter the RS 100 crore club by Saturday.
The sustained dominance of Pushpa 2 and the success of Mufasa heavily impacted Baby John’s performance. Varun Dhawan’s Baby John was initially predicted to earn Rs 13 crore on its opening day but fell short of expectations, coupled with mixed reviews.
Baby John stars Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff and Rajpal Yadav. It is produced by Murad Khetani, Priya Atlee, and Jyoti Deshpande. The film is the Hindi adaptation of the Tamil blockbuster, Theri, starring Vijay in the lead role.
Presented by Jio Studios in association with Atlee and Cine1 Studios, Baby John is a production of A for Apple Studios and Cine1 Studios. Directed by Kalees, the film was released in theatres on 25th December 2024.
